Chicago Dining Guide
American Modern
If you only have one evening to dine in Chicago, this is the place. Chef Trotter artfully creates a memorable dining experience. While the tasting menu and wine parings are superlative, the experience goes far beyond to include: a wine cellar tour, a gift basket, and even the chance to visit with Chef Trotter in the kitchen where he will show you how to prepare anything you have enjoyed earlier in the evening.

I particularly enjoyed a flawless preparation of four story hills farm lamb. Save room to sample their exquisite selection of domestic cheeses before desert. Also, the mango crepes are phenominal.

Greek Islands
The menu at this establishment defines Chicago-style Greek cuisine. I grew up on house favorites such as flaming saganaki, tsatsiki, and gyros. I have yet to find superior baklava.

Santorini
For a more upscale Greek dining I recommend Santorini. Ask your server about the house specialties. I highly recommend the fresh whole fish selection.

Italian
It is refreshing to find a ristorante that specializes in the flavors of Bologna. Let your server be your guide to the unique dishes and wines of this region and you will not be disappointed.

Tuscany on Taylor
I return for the wood fired pizza and tiramisu; although I have never been disappointed with anything else I have ordered.

Mexican
After living in California for 8 years I visit Topolobampo for their sophisticated Mexican cuisine. Begin the evening with a blue Agave Margarita!

El Tipico Mexican Restaurant
Stop by this famly-style Mexican restaurant on Friday or Saturday and enjoy the roaming guitar trio while you taste the hot and mild salsas, nachos, carne asada, and fajitas.

Pizza
This pizzeria specializes in the crust and it shows. No soggy bread here. Try their different variations thick, thin, and whole wheat crust. Stick to the pizza.
Giordano's is home to the finest Chicago stuffed pizza. Unfortunately, the crust on their mail order pizza is not nearly as good; a visit to the windy city is required.
Steak
I have yet to find a steakhouse that serves a finer filet mignon with bernaise sauce. Profiterols are a must for dessert.
